Ich habe diesen Thread nach Deep Purples Album genannt, weil es eigentlich schon aussagt, um was es gehen soll: Classic meets Rock!
Die Diskussion im Dream Theater Thread bracht mich auf die Idee, da ja Six Degree auf Score wunderbar funktioniert, für meine Begriffe.

Dies ist ein wunderschönes Kapitel der Geschichte des Rocks. Immer wieder schauten Musiker über den Tellerrand und suchten ihrer Musik im Land der Klassik ein anderes oder neues Gesicht zu verleihen. Einige erfolgreiche Beispiele sind hier bereits genannt worden. Ich führe mal ein paar weitere an:
Eines der bedeutendsten Projekte War doch sicherlich "Pictures At An Exhibition" von Emerson Lake & Palmer. Auch das Electric Light Orchestra hatte seine Verdienste in diesem Genre. Bei Deep Purple fällt mir natürlich auch direkt Jon Lord mit seiner Sarabande ein. Gelungen finde ich auch Meat Loaf mit Bat Out Of Hell Live mit dem Melbourne Symphonie Orchestra. Weniger gelungen waren meinem Erachten nach Metallica mit ihrem S&M Konzert. Hier waren sie mir im Vergleich zum San Francisco Symphonie Orchestra viel zu dominant.
Aus jüngerer Zeit gefallen mir Quadrophenia von The Who und Ray Wilsons Konzerte mit dem Berlin Symphonie Ensemble sehr gut.

Eine scharfkantige Trennung von klassischer Musik und populärer Musik gefällt mir sowieso nicht, da ich auch gerne Klassik, ja auch mal eine Oper, höre. Ungemein viele Themen und Elemente werden sowieso in der uns so lieben progressiven Musik benutzt. Ich nenne mal Yes, die übrigens auch schon einmal mit einem Symphonie Orchester auftraten, Mike Oldfield, Ricky Wakeman, Neal Morse, Transatlantic... Aber auch die klassische Musik ist mit im Geschäft. Hierzu höre man sich mal die Projekte von David Palmer zu Pink Floyd und Jethro Tull an.
Also, wie bereits gesagt, das Thema Concertos for Group and Orchestra ist prima gewählt!!!

Haggard spielen auch immer wieder gern mit Kammerorchester. Bester Symphonic-Metal
